A Parallel Compressible 3D Navier-Stokes Solver Using Unstructured Meshes
We describe in this paper a strategy for parallelising a 3D compressible Navier-Stokes solver using unstructured meshes on a class of message-passing MIMD machines. The performance results obtained on two parallel machines, the Meiko Concerto and Intel iPSC860 are presented and compared to those obtained on CRAY.
متن کاملParallel Partitioning of Unstructured Meshes
A method is outlined for optimising graph partitions which arise in mapping unstructured mesh calculations to parallel computers. The method employs a combination of iterative techniques to both evenly balance theworkload andminimise the number and volume of interprocessor communications. They are designed to work efficiently in parallel as well as sequentially and when combined with a fast dir...
متن کاملParallel Refinement of Unstructured Meshes
In this paper we describe a parallel h-refinement algorithm for unstructured finite element meshes based on the longest-edge bisection of triangles and tetrahedrons. This algorithm is implemented in PARED, a system that supports the parallel adaptive solution of PDEs. We discuss the design of such an algorithm for distributed memory machines including the problem of propagating refinement acros...
متن کاملParallel dynamic graph-partitioning for unstructured meshes
A parallel method for the dynamic partitioning of unstructured meshes is described. The method introduces a new iterative optimisation technique known as relative gain optimisation which both balances the workload and attempts to minimise the interprocessor communications overhead. Experiments on a series of adaptively refined meshes indicate that the algorithm provides partitions of an equival...
متن کاملTechniques for Visualizing 3d Unstructured Meshes
We present a computational module for interactively visualizing, large-scale, 3D un-structured meshes. Scientists and engineers routinely solve large-scale computational boundary value problems on unstructured grids. These grids typically range from several hundred thousand elements to millions of elements. With this ability to solve such large-scale problems comes the challenge of viewing the ...
